Chapter Twenty

The sound of glass shattering echoed in the room. One after another, items were thrown and smashed to the floor out of rage.

"Dammit, how could you been so sidetracked Kinjal, how?!"

Grabbing a vase, Kinjal threw it across the room, it smashing into tiny little pieces.

"How could I have let them get married?! How?!"

With a huff, she sat down in a chair and gripped onto it, her knuckles whitening.

"I can't lose him, not so easily!"

Her grip tightened on the chair.

"I had it all planned out! I was going to ruin that wedding! But instead...."

Grabbing the tumbler which held her whiskey, she threw it across the room, the tumbler shattering into small glass pieces.

"Everything was perfected! Until...."

Kinjal's grip loosened as her face slightly paled.

"Him... if it weren't for him...."

Kinjal gulped and grabbed the bottle of scotch, which sat on the table in front of her. She took a swig from it and slammed it down.

"Why now? Why is he here? Where did he come from?!"

Kinjal took another swig and placed the bottle down with another thud.

"No matter... the two may have gotten married, but I won't let go so easily, not when I've gotten my claws so deeply into him already."

An evil smirk grew on her face.

"You're mine Arnav. All mine."

*~*

It was true what they said about Cuba - it truly felt like you were stuck in a period of time. I couldn't believe that I was actually in Havana, surrounded by its wonderful people and rich history. As our driver drove us through the city, Arnav and I watched the sights around us.

"It's so beautiful here," I gushed. It really, truly is!

Arnav looked at me for a moment. "Not as beautiful as you," he said softly.

Oh my... Blush filled my cheeks and I looked away, while my inner girl shrieked and shrilled, throwing confetti in the air.

What can I say? It's the affect of love!

It wasn't long before we arrived to the docks, a boat waiting for the two of us. Di wasn't kidding when she said a boat would be taking us to the island.

Still, it must've been pricey, and I don't know how comfortable I feel about that.

Midnight had already passed when we arrived to what would be our home for a week. According to Arnav, it would just be the two of us on the island, no one else, except for the the two workers who would be coming in the morning to clean up the place and keep us stocked up on food.

Eep!!

However I could not deny the sight in front of me. The house was grand and beautiful, the lights from within illuminating it, making it even more beautiful as it shined through the large windows and light curtains.

Arnav joined my side and looked at me. "What do you think?"

"It's beautiful," I replied, taking in the light breeze under the open, star lit sky.

Two workers emerged from the house and greeted us. They went to the boat and took our bags, taking them inside. It wasn't long before the two reemerged and left in the boat we had come in. Now we truly were alone on this island.

Eep!

Just as I was about to head inside, Arnav swooped me up into his arms, surprising me.

"What are you doing," I asked, absolutely shocked.

"It's tradition to carry your wife through the threshold, isn't it?"

"Yes, but-"

"So I'm doing just that."

Arnav headed towards the house and I just gazed at him. He truly is something else.

That's my husband.

I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Hmm, well if you want to value traditions, why didn't you do it when I first arrived home as your wife," I teased.

A hint of blush appeared on his cheeks and I was now curious.

"Well, things work slightly different in our family."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning we do it, the tradition of carrying your wife through the threshold, but only after..."

My eyebrows scrunched. "After?"

Arnav looked down at me. "After the newly weds have bonded."

At first I didn't understand what he meant, but it only took a matter of seconds to understand. Blush filled my cheeks and I looked away.

Bonded? If Arnav and I were to... the whole family would know then that we had done it!

"Our family is shameless," he said, as if he had read my thoughts.

I looked up at him as we entered the house. From the corner of eyes, I could see how beautiful the interior was, but my mind was focused on him. He walked into the bedroom and placed me down on my feet.

"Tired," he asked, and I simply nodded.

"Why don't you go wash up first."

With a nod, I headed to the en suite bathroom. Shutting the door behind me, I leaned back against it. It had occurred to me that we really were alone with no one to disturb us. I mean really, what are two workers going to do, they just come in the morning, do little work, that's it. But other than that, we really were alone.

Blush filled my cheeks once more as I bit on my finger.

Could it be possible that by the time we get back, Arnav will carry me through the threshold of our home?

*~*

Once we had both washed up and were changed into our pajamas, Arnav and I had knocked out. It was as if we hadn't slept in days, and it was just impossible to stay awake, and so we crawled up together, under the duvet, and fell asleep in each other's arms.

It was the sounds of waves crashing and seagulls that had awoken me the next morning. It reminded me of where we were and I looked up at Arnav. He was still asleep, a light smile on his face.

Did we...?

I looked down at my body and realized I still had my clothes on.

That means... right! We were too tired! How could I have forgotten so easily?

Then again, maybe I was too excited.

Besharam much? You bet!

Carefully slipping out of Arnav's hold, I got out of bed and washed up. I had taken a quick shower last night once we had our clothes managed and put away, so the ick and grogginess I had felt yesterday, was gone. Once all my tasks were completed, I reentered the bedroom and found Arnav sitting up in bed, running his hand through his hair.

Even jet-lag couldn't effect his amount of sexiness.

As soon as the thought crossed my mind, Arnav looked up at me. Blush instantly filled my face as he got out of bed and stood before me.

"Good morning," he whispered, his voice raspy.

Fuck! "Good morning," I whispered back, and just like the day before, in the blink of an eye, his lips collided with mine.

Instantly I reached out and gripped onto his T-shirt, over his abdomen. Arnav caressed my cheeks in his hands, and I couldn't help my shy smile.

Oh my- are we really about to... with no one to interrupt us?

The sound of the doorbell rang, causing us to split.

"What the-?" Arnav looked at the alarm clock. "Right on schedule," he grumbled.

Right on schedule- oh, the workers!

Damn it, why did they have to come now.

"I'll get the door," I said. "You can go wash up."

With a nod, Arnav placed a kiss on my forehead, and headed to the bathroom. I made my way through the vast house and opened the doors for the workers. They smile as they entered, and got right down to work, cleaning and preparing our meals. It wasn't long until breakfast was made and Arnav had joined me. With their work complete, the workers left, leaving Arnav and I alone.

It's quite exciting, yet quite nerve wrecking.
